#Hearties Ask Brian Bird
Hello, Hotties. (Wait, I’m not Daniel Lissing, sorry. Let me start again).
Hello, #Hearties.
It’s time for another round of your Questions for the show, which I will choose from and Answer in our next few editions of the WCTH bi-monthly e-News (next edition is May 15, 2016).
You can ask anything you want, and I promise to answer anything I can. But you may be waiting for the Lizzy the cow to come home before I’ll tackle any season 4 story questions.
Post your comments below this website post or if you are on twitter, email our webmaster/newsletter editor at sheridigi@gmail.com, and maybe you will be one of the Hearties chosen for special treatment.
If you haven’t already, sign up for the enews at www.TheHearties.com
I’m a huge fan of the show and especially enjoyed this past season. I have four questions:
1. Is it possible to make Season 4 longer than the usual 7-10 episodes?
2. Are there any filming moments where the cast adlibs lines/actions that enhance the script and make it
to post production?
3. How long does it take for you all to write the script for an episode and for an entire episode to be
filmed?
4. Where do you all get the ideas for Elizabeth’s teaching lessons that are shown on the show?
Mr. Bird,
I am new to the WCTH family. It has been little over a month since the story peeked my interest because of Eloazabth’s profession. I am a retired teacher in Ohio and love stories about the teaching profession. I have also joined the Facebook group and I am on Twitter.
Here is my question: I understand that filming will take place this summer which sounds like it is better for all but I was wondering how you get to that point. When do you start meeting to plan for season 4 and how does it all get put together before filming.
Last year at the HFR many of the hearties took video and posted them on FB. Would it be possible to collect those, make a DVD disc of the collected clips and make them available t those of us who were not able to attend? I remember there was a clip of Dan when someone asked him if he chopped all that wood. Looked as if you guys were having such great fun. Maybe we could purchase them through the Hallmark shop..
Dear Brian Bird,
I have two questions and I would be honored if you selected either one.
My first question is not about S4 stories, but about S3 stories. When you look back over S3, which story line(s) surprised you at how well they unfolded? Hats off to the writers because S3 was beautifully crafted and the actors shone because of great material.
Second question: I am wondering how writers for the show determine how to manage background details for characters. For example, with Lee and Rosemary’s wedding, I believe there was no mention of “family” of the characters attending the wedding or sending best wishes to the couple. In another storyline – Becky and Cody’s – we know more about what happened to their parents and the aunt showed up to claim them. With Charlotte Thornton’s visit, she and Jack never mentioned the son/brother Tom from S2. With only 42 minutes times 10, what is the process used by writers to determine what details or background is important?
I know the storyline is focused toward Elizabeth, but whatever ended up happening with her sister Julie?
As viewers, we can definitely see the hand of God in your work. Are there any special on-set Holy Spirit moments or grace-filled filming memories you can share with the Hearties? Thank you and God bless you for all you do for the Hearties and the beautiful show you have created! We love When Calls the Heart!
You use mountains in CO for backdrop which is beautiful! What made you film in Vancouver over the states? Very cool that both Canadian actors and US actors come together in a beautiful heartwarming environment!
Mr. Bird,
I know you commented about questions for Season4, so I do understand if you do not answer this.
But, do you think there is any chance that Julie Thatcher and Tom Thornton will return sometime so Hearties can see what happened to them? Is there any thought about this? In Season 2, Julie had been on the phone with someone and I guess planning to run away, but we never seen what happened after that. I am not asking for a story line about them, just curious of their return. And, since Elizabeth Thatcher is so close to her sisters, I was thinking we may have heard something about it in Season 3. Thank you for a fabulous Season 3 and I am looking forward to a Season 4. 🙂
