Sept. 3, The Huffington Post reports, “Why It’s So Important That Women Empower Other Women.” Kathryn Finney explains the impact that women can have in media. “We have all of these platforms that are available to us, where there’s no longer the gatekeepers that tell us what we can write, when we can write, how we can write — we can do it any way we want to,” she says.

Michael Landon Jr., still produces today, as did his father before him, inspirational frontier television series based on the renown books of female writers with classic, universal themes that stand the test of time: faith in the midst of tragedy, hope despite loss, community that heals the broken hearted, the power of inner strength to overcome obstacles, and overcoming hardships for common laborers.

In an exclusive interview with Austin Movie Examiner, Erin Krakow has personally conveyed the same of kind of grace and strength and respect for strong women that she portrays in her character Elizabeth Thatcher in the Hallmark series “When Calls the Heart,” filmed in Canada about how women who have lost their coal miner husbands learn to survive and provide for their children in a bleak labor environment.

In this lovely interview in which Erin has been enthusiastic about her ongoing portrayal of the leading female character in the series, she has told how she will begin work on the third season this fall in beautiful, albeit cold and rainy Vancouver, Canada. Erin Krakow has told how the Hearties support group grown has grown from a small group to one that has grown to a rolling boil, largely by word of mouth and through social media.

Erin appreciates the depiction of women in the series. She has told how in the storyline, after women in the coal mining community lose their husbands, they learn how to stand up for themselves, to support each other, and to build a strong community. They help Elizabeth Thatcher (the school teacher that Erin plays, who is a fish out of water having come from an affluent background) to grow up, find self-respect, and humility. She and the other women display in the midst of hardship, grace, inner strength, and compassion. Erin, as the school teacher, thinks her character and that of the other women are role models for young women. Erin has shared how the women in the series despite their struggling economic conditions are lovely, graceful, kind women; who also display physical strength and inner character.
