Interview with Daniel Lissing – Part 2
Daniel Lissing and I got to spend some quality time together on the set of his show, When Calls the Heart. Read part 1 of this interview here.
The Hearties are dying to know – any plans to sing on the show?
I had spoken to Hallmark and the producers about this early on and I was very clear. Jack Thornton does not sing. He’s a Mountie. He can paint, that’s great. He can build a house. He never gets hurt and he’s always got his hair perfect. He never has a smudge of dirt on his face – except for this scene today. One thing he can’t do is sing, all right? Who knows? We were actually talking about it last night and I said, ‘If there was a reason – a legitimate reason – not just because I can hold a tune, let’s put it in the script. There has to be a legitimate reason for him to sing and maybe it’s at someone’s funeral. Maybe it’s at a church service where he sings with a group of people, something like that that makes sense to the story. If it doesn’t make sense to the story and we’re just basing an episode around the fact an actor can sing then I’m not into it.’
You just disappointed a lot of Hearties.
I’ll post some more stuff online soon.
Speaking of Hearties, are you surprised at the fervor? We’ve heard a lot of them have been visiting the set recently.
