The fans of “#When Calls The Heart“ have been in shock since it was revealed that #Jack is gone. It was already shared that Daniel Lissing decided to leave the show. In a new Facebook live event, . . .

I have watched the last episode 4 times already. It deserves an Emmy for writing, Elizabeth ( & Abigail’s) acting, the whole story, etc!!! Love the heart-felt flashbacks of Jack & Elizabeth. Just watched the Christmas show last night. Incredible story lines. Kudos to the wonderful writers and cast!. Of course we will all miss Daniel. He left at the summit of his career on WCTH. I loved Jack with Lee and their easy friendship. Lee always had Jack’s back. Loved the two couples together. I think that Lee and Rosemary are amazing and have carried the show in a lot of ways. Love the new Gowen, he is another great actor as is Carlson. Think about it the writers and cast kept us all going all this time! Should the writers surprise us and Jack returns, great but if not, there are amazing actors and story lines ahead. I think it will take time to process this unexpected ending (WOW!). Believe Pictures is awesome. Kudos to Brian and Michael Landon Jr., huge fan! Best of luck Jack, worried about your future, hope you are OK! All the best to all! Thanks for great Sunday nights and for great re-runs!!
I’m truly frustrated with this show. Now it appears that this show is going to center around yet ANOTHER single mother, as most shows on TV today are centered. I liked to watch this show because it had a modicum of traditional values entwined with it’s story, and now, it’s been tainted with ideas of non-traditionalism regarding the family unit. I’m not sure that I’ll continue watching next season.
I’m not sure that this is really non-traditionalism, per se. Elizabeth didn’t choose to be a single mother. I have friends who lost spouses. They certainly would’ve preferred to have their husbands with them and being a good father, but they had to raise their children on their own.
Have you watched the Facebook Live with Lori Loughlin, Erin Krakow, Daniel Lissing, and exec producer Brian Bird or the interview with Erin, Dan, and Lori on Home & Family? In those they explained that, once Dan told them he was going to leave the show, they considered all options and determined this storyline was the only one that would work for the circumstances. As for other TV shows, I can’t say that I’ve really found any others that are as family- and faith-friendly as When Calls the Heart. As hard as it is to accept Jack’s death and the changes it brings to our beloved Hope Valley, I just can’t say goodbye to the other wonderful Hope Valley citizens.
Should have recast Jack. There a lots of super good-looking capable actors out there. It’s done in daytime soaps all of the time. With all the sadness in the world, including in USA every day, we didn’t need to see more of it where we would heave been looking for Elizabeth and Jack to start their life together and build that new home. Main characters do not get killed off too often. I will be one of those not watching in the future. Good luck to all the cast and crew. And, Lori, don’t blame viewers if they lose their jobs; we would never have written it that way!
Hi All im newbie here. Good art! Thx! Thx!
I can’t believe you killed off Jack. I won’t watch this show anymore and I loved it. Can’t you just have Elizabeth and Jack be happy have children and live a good life. It took 5 years for them to get married. I am so upset and disappointed. Was looking forward to the next chapter. Now it is ruined!
Have you had a chance to watch the Facebook Live with Lori Loughlin, Erin Krakow, Daniel Lissing, and exec producer Brian Bird (link is on the News Page)? Or the Home & Family interview with Erin, Dan, and Lori (link is on the Cast & Crew Interviews Page)? In those interviews, Daniel Lissing explained that he decided to leave the show. So, after much consideration the producers and writers determined that this was the only storyline that would work under the circumstances. As hard as it is to accept Jack’s death, I’m so thankful that we now have the hope of Jack & Elizabeth’s baby arriving sometime in season 6!
It is all just fine the way it is! Let the writers do their thing. Man or woman does not matter. It is like real life. I trust them to give us great programming.
No need to pick each little thing apart,if it does not please you, just turn the dial.
WCTH is a fine program,it was a hard decision for them to continue with Daniel leaving, it is over, Let’ s move on looking forward to more great stories..I trust their judgement
I’m also concerned that Elizabeth and Jack’s child is now consigned to grow up without ever meeting his or her father. Dads are just as necessary to their kids’ well-being and development as moms. I’d be extremely disappointed with any suggestion to the contrary.
Oh, absolutely, fathers are very important! I don’t believe there has been any suggestion to the contrary on When Calls the Heart. Unfortunately, Daniel Lissing made the decision to leave the show, so they had to write his character out of the story in some fashion and they decided this storyline was the only one that would really work. It’s terribly sad that Jack will not know his child, but at least Jack’s legacy will live on.
When we first started watching the show it was family-oriented there was need of a church and school now only schoool it had family it had heart and now that there is not a man really leading the show anymore we’re leaving the show it seems like it’s more about the women on the show then it is about family. We know about the hardships in real life but there’s always been men leaders.
That’s why I’m looking forward to season 6. I’d say Lee, Carlson, and Gowan are all awesome examples of male leaders. Looking forward to seeing who the new leading man might be.
I agree. I know that it’s super hard for us all that ”Jack” is leaving but let us not forget that ultimately it’s acting and that now we have the opportunity to treasure the other men in this show and perhaps see others rising higher to the plate as mentioned: Lee, Henry, Carson, Jesse, etc.
Gowan is responsible for the death of 46 miners. Lee is good example of honesty, kindness and integrity..
So disappointed in the last episode, it was cruel, they could have ended Jack’s character another way..
Most of the fans cried through #10, ended at the wedding, that would have been a happy note, just so hard to handle. They are correct, Jack cannot be recast, they promised us a happy ending is not having Elizabeth expect a child, one more widow with child in Hope Valley
I know it was terribly sad! I’ve rewatched it twice and still cry through much of it! But that last scene changed my sad tears to happy tears. Lori Loughlin said during the Facebook Live interview on Monday that many happy times are coming up in season 6. I’m looking forward to those!
