“When Calls the Heart”: Pascale Hutton’s ‘Rosemary’

The Hallmark Channel is working to relate to today’s audiences while continuing to promote home and family. For example, the Hallmark ads have become more honest and comedic but still celebrate home and family. Hallmark’s celebrations for families include special events across the country, as well as holiday programming. Many viewers, especially the “Hearties” (loyal fans of When Calls the Heart), are anticipating the two-hour, holiday special that will air December 26. This comes just before the Season Three premiere, which is slated for February 2016.

The When Calls the Heart series follows the development of Elizabeth Thatcher, a young school teacher from a wealthy Eastern family who has come to teach school in a small coal mining town. It weaves in the development and growth of other characters and relationships as they all deal with suffering and hardships. Ultimately, they always find that inner strength of character develops in and among themselves.

Dr. Diane Howard recently caught up with Pascale Hutton, who plays Rosemary in the series. Hutton plays the spunky, multi-talented former fiancée to leading man and Mountie, Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing). In Season One, viewers are introduced to her as someone who can jump on and ride a horse, skillfully shoot a gun, entertain the community with her performances, sing, play the piano and more. Pascale gives hints of the continuing development of Rosemary, who like others, grows in character and community relationships. Rosemary comes from a glitzy stage background to the coal mining community in pursuit of her former fiancé. However, he is drawn to the leading character, Elizabeth Thatcher, who has also been growing in internal strength.  Hutton’s character, Rosemary, is multi-dimensional and multi-faceted as she becomes more grounded, more real, and learns to value community.

    I think when calls the heart is one of the best decent shows on tv. I love it. It makes you realize that the things that happened way back when the out come of any situation they surcome, has a lesson in it. I hope it last for a long time. It’s well written. Hallmark has the best shows.

    Love when calls the heart it reaches family values it’s not smutty. It’s a show that teach about believing in miracles and having faith in God
