As my minister back in Scotland would say, my gast is truly good and flabbered now.
It’s no secret I’m a fan of the Hallmark Channel original television series, WHEN CALLS THE HEART. I tweet about it constantly, post about it all over Facebook, have even blogged about it before. I joined a support group fan club, and a flash of inspiration one Sunday afternoon led me to design a little logo for our addicts fans that has since taken off and become a full-scale brand, complete with t-shirts and accessories raising funds for charity.
I have done, still do, and will continue to do all of this simply because the show is worth it. WHEN CALLS THE HEART is a brilliantly written, acted and produced television show that I hope to watch every Saturday night for many, many years to come. It’s entertainment that promotes traditional family and community values, a program viewers of all ages can—and do—enjoy. I rant and rave about this show because I can’t help myself. I drive to work each Saturday night and sneak into my boss’ office to watch it live since I don’t have TV at home. I watch it every Sunday morning when it uploads to my iTunes season pass. I eagerly await the release of the full season on DVD, and hope it will contain lots of fun extras like interviews and extended scenes and bloopers. And… see what I mean about not being able to help myself?
All this to say, I was Over. The. Moon. when the show’s writer/producer, Brian Bird, started following me on Twitter. I squealed like a tweenie at a Taylor Swift concert when the Hallmark Channel started following me a bit later. Then came last Friday. My phone, blank and idle on my boring cubicle desk at work, suddenly buzzed to life. A Twitter notification—someone had sent me a private message. I literally dropped the phone when I opened the app and read it.It was Hallmark, asking for my mailing address because they wanted to send me a gift as a token of their appreciation for my raving lunacy enthusiasm for WHEN CALLS THE HEART. I admit it—there was dancing involved. Right there in my cubicle.I was going to receive a DVD!Then I came home from work today, and found this on my doorstep…
